The health care bill enactment has, as expected, spurred a slew of reactions. There are a few things that bother me:
1) People who blame Obama and call the bill "Obamacare". The bill was voted on in the house and senate. it was approved by both. it was signed by Obama. He is one part of three (lovely setup we have in our government). He is one man.
2) "Im just going to quit my job and be a freeloader now" : We pay for those who do not have health care in one way or another. Right now we pay for them when they visit the emergency room and cannot pay. Health care will allow those who cannot afford it or who cannot get approved to have the preventative care they need. It will cut down on preventable illness. It is good for all.
3) "It is unconstitutional" : Auto insurance is mandatory. Immunizations are mandatory to attend public schools. There are plenty of things that are mandatory in our country. Mandatory does not equal unconstitutional.
4) Communist: nope. its not. if it were communist there would be one option for everyone. private sector still exists, thus the program is not communist.
5) Doctors will not make any money: Oh woe is me. If doctors make more than 100,000$ after this bill i dont want to hear it. heck, if they make more than $75,000 a year i dont want to hear it. Whatever happened to wanting to help people?
